Queues psychology

Almost every day we have to wait for something. Queues are a part of our life- beginning at the bus stop in the morning and ending at the supermarket after a long day of hard work.

Dealing with queues is very important for each of us if we want to avoid 37 billion hours every year spend waiting just in USA. The time, spend waiting in queues is called “lost”, so why don’t we want to save it and use it for good or interesting purposes? We don’t even try to think about the ways how the problem could be solved. I will try…

First of all, every person should plan his day work to avoid the queues as much as possible. We can pay taxes, book the tickets or order food just using the Internet.
Also it’s good riding your own bike to avoid waiting in the bus stop or in traffic jam.

Of course, there are some places where we can’t avoid waiting, so we must use it right. For example, reading a good book or calling a friend. Supermarkets and airports are trying to solve the queues problems by organizing the research about queues psychology. They have found out that the music also helps us to be more relaxed and not get irritated while we wait. (Assume that all the queues are the same length. Assume that they move at the same speed, but we just want to jump the line…)
Moreover, it is good when we don’t see those people, who settle their matters faster than we do.

After I had read all that material I decided to save my life and its minutes, not waste them for nothing. And I will carry my book everywhere I go.
